SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- There's less than two weeks until the first day of school for South Bend students.
The South Bend Chapter of Indiana Black Expo hosted their Back-to-School rally Saturday at Greater Saint John Missionary Baptist Church.
Not only were backpacks given away and school supplies were handed out for K through 12 students, but there also were educational sessions for kids and their parents on what they need to know to navigate the school year.
Local organizations are making sure students have everything they need to start the year off strong.
Parents also received free resource bags. Free haircut vouchers and door prizes were also handed out to the kids.
