PORTER COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Natural Resources reports conservation officers are investigating a drowning incident which occurred on Labor Day in Long Lake.

The report states at around 6:17 p.m., Monday, conservation officers responded near the 600 block of West Long Lake Road on a report of a person going in the water and not resurfacing.

Multiple agencies arrived on scene and initiated search operations.

At 7:02 p.m., a Portage Fire Department boat recovered the body of Sean Ryan, 42, of Valparaiso.

Authorities say despite lifesaving efforts, Ryan was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
