SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Secured School Safety Grant Program has awarded more than 110 million dollars in matching grants to Indiana school districts. The program has served as a critical resource to ensure Hoosier schools are safe and secure.
Here in Michiana, Concord Community Schools has used these funds to offset the cost of their in-district police department. In total, that has amounted to $100,000 annually.
Penn Harris Madison schools is also applying for the grant as they do every year. For 2021-2022, PHM got $86,000. Last year, South Bend Community Schools received $50,000, and Elkhart Community Schools received $100,000.
The application is opened until June 31st. Learn further information here.
