Indiana National Guard to be deployed to northern Indiana

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Indiana Governor Mike Pence has activated the Indiana National Guard Highway Assistance Teams and 175 of them will be sent to northern Indiana.

When the National Guard service members arrive, they will help with road conditions and emergencies.

Indiana National Guard Director of Public Affairs Cathy Van Bree says everyone should take this storm seriously.

"Just ask that everybody listen to the warnings that are out there regarding the weather and are very careful and if they do need assistance they need to call the city police or the county sheriff and then that’s how we will get activated," said Van Bree.

The wind is blowing the snow, making it very difficult to see when driving. It will only get worse the darker it gets.
