Indiana Parole Board recommends against clemency for death row inmate in Michigan City
IDOE INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Indiana's Parole Board is recommending against granting clemency for a convicted murderer scheduled to be executed.
The board says it received a Clemency Petition for Jeffrey Weisheit for his death sentence to be transferred to a sentence of life in prison without parole.
Weisheit was convicted of murdering Alyssa and Caleb Lynch, two children under his care, in 2010. He had set a home the children were staying at on fire. According to documents, Weisheit was in a troubled romantic relationship with their mother.
According to parole board documents, Weisheit has a history of multiple conduct reports while in prison, including Battery, Disruptive Behavior, and Animal Cruelty.
The board recommended against clemency on account of the nature of the crime and his behavior behind bars.
His execution is scheduled for November 5.
