Indiana Secretary for Career Connections and Talent struck by car while bicycling

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The La Porte County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the intersection of 1st Street and D Street around 5:49 p.m. Monday for a reported crash involving a vehicle and bicyclist.
The report states a white Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 28-year-old Cheyenne Hester of La Porte, was traveling west on 1st Street before turning south onto D Street.
Hester told deputies her view was obstructed by the sun at that time.
That's when she struck a bicyclist, later identified as former La Porte mayor and current Indiana Secretary for Career Connections and Talent Blair Milo.
Milo had been bicycling east on 1st Street when she approached the intersection.
Milo was ejected from her bike which was significantly damaged and no longer ridable.
Milo's left shoulder and arm were injured, and she had swelling to her left knee.
She was then taken to the La Porte Northwest Health.
Hester was uninjured and cited for Operating or Permitting Operation Without Financial Responsibility.
