MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana State Police Bremen post reports an Indianapolis woman was arrested Wednesday following a police pursuit on US 31 near S.R. 10.

ISP says several troopers were working in the area when at around 1:15 p.m. they observed a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier speeding north on US 31 near 14th Road.

The report states a trooper caught up with the car when it began driving erratically, passing other vehicles, and causing the trooper to believe the driver would flee.

The trooper then activated his emergency lights to make a traffic stop, at which point the suspect vehicle accelerated to speeds approaching 100 miles per hour according to the report.

Police say the driver, later identified as 35-year-old Amber McDowell, fled north on US 31 passing vehicles on the left and right plus the shoulder.

Police say McDowell briefly lost control near mile-maker 232, entering the median before regaining control and continuing to flee police.

The report state McDowell then lost control on the exit ramp near S.R. 4 due to it being covered in snow.

She then crashed into the concrete ditch west of the ramp.

Police say McDowell then exited the car before fleeing north while disobeying troopers' commands.

Police eventually took her into custody and noted she showed signs of intoxication. It was also found McDowell had an active warrant out of Hendricks County and one out of Kentucky.

She was then taken to a Plymouth hospital to be examined due to the crash, being tased, and the OWI investigation.

McDowell was medically cleared and taken to the Marshall County Jail.

McDowell is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, a Level 6 Felony, Operating While Intoxicated-Prior, a Level 6 Felony, Operating While Intoxicated-Endangerment, a Class A-Misdemeanor, Resisting Law Enforcement, a Class A-Misdemeanor, Reckless Driving, a Class C-Misdemeanor, and the two active warrants.
