SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Community School Corporation is expanding eligibility for internet access to every student within the district.
The Citywide Classroom South Bend partnership includes the corporation and a company called enFocus, who will help with the expansion efforts.
Confirmation of this initiative was made at a press conference on Monday afternoon at Coquillard Elementary School.
“This year students have had to overcome tremendous barriers to access learning and we believe that access to learning is a student’s right, not a student’s privilege,” said Gillian Shaw, Director of Research and Development at enFocus.
“That’s why we’re opening up our application to any South Bend School’s student at this time,” Shaw added.
This partnership has granted nearly 1,000 connections so far around the South Bend area.
Expansion in eligibility will now offer this internet access to any student in the corporation to ensure every student has equal access to a quality internet connection.
