Investigation reveals father killed daughters before committing suicide

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The deaths of Jeffrey Marvin and his two daughters, Lexis and Haley in December were the result of a murder-suicide and will not result in any charges, according to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Marvin home on Spring River Drive around 4 p.m. on December 18 to conduct a welfare check.

The responding deputy made entry to the home and found 47-year-old Jeffrey Marvin, 18-year-old Lexis Marvin and 15-year-old Haley Marvin deceased in the residence.

Evidence at the scene indicated Marvin shot his daughters, then himself, several days before their bodies were discovered.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit conducted an investigation into the deaths of the Marvin family.

There is no evidence to suggest anyone else was involved in the deaths or knew about them beforehand, reports said.

While deputies did discover a motive, it was not released to protect the privacy of the family.
