ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a hit-and-run in Elkhart that left one dead.
At approximately 3:49 a.m. Saturday morning, officers responded to a report of a subject found deceased in the roadway on CR 17 north of CR 45.
When officers arrived, they found the victim had died after being struck by a vehicle--the motorist had left the scene of the crash.
The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Austin Delgado of Kimmel, Indiana.
Investigators are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of the vehicle that left the crash scene early Saturday morning.
The crash is now under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department Crash Investigation Team.
