Irish will face Clemson for senior night matchup at the Joyce Center
SOUTH BEND, Ind -- Notre Dame will recognize three seniors in their matchup against Clemson, as the ladies attempt to put together a win streak.
After a 16-point loss at home to NC State, the Irish applied the frustration to another North Carolina team four days later. Beating Duke 70-62.
"I felt that we had control in the game, you know, being in the game playing to our standard and playing well, to start I thought gave us confidence going through the first quarter second quarter. So then defensively when we went on that 14-0 run that just catapulted our confidence and gave us a lead, which helped in the end, when they started pressing," Head Coach Niele Ivey said.
Hopefully the win leads to a series of confidence over the last four games of the regular season. Two of them being home matchups vs Virgnia Tech (22-4) and rival opponent Louisville (21-6).
Before getting to that point, the ladies just have to take care of the 11-15 Clemson Tigers. The good thing is, they get to do so on senior night for.
Walk-on Sarah Cernugel, Maddy Westbeld, and Natalija Marshall will be recognized during the game.
"I literally just saw Maddy like 30 seconds before this and I said how is it senior night already. This is crazy. We came in together. It’s definitely emotional for sure but it’s a bittersweet moment. It definitely did fly by, but I think covid, kind of, it gave us a different perspective," Marshall said.
"All the contributions that every single player has. And we have a big group this this year. And it's always just a special moment just for them to dwell on the impact that they made here at Notre Dame and their whole basketball career," Ivey added.
