FULTON COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana State Police are conducting an investigation into the death of a Fulton County Jail inmate who died Monday morning.
Nicholas Clevenger, 29, was arrested Sunday on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, and possession of a narcotic drug.
Clevenger was booked at 5:25 p.m. and placed in a cell that was monitored by cameras because he indicated he might harm himself.
At 5:45 a.m. Monday, a correctional officer found Clevenger unconscious and not breathing, reports said.
Staff started CPR and requested an ambulance.
Clevenger was pronounced dead in his cell, reports said.
The ISP says there were no outward signs of trauma to his body.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday morning in Fort Wayne.
