Jail visitor, two inmates facing charges of trafficking with an inmate
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- A jail visitor and two inmates are facing charges of trafficking with an inmate after jail officers located a phone and pills inside a public restroom at the Kosciusko County Jail, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office.
On June 23, a jail officer located a cell phone, charger and 12 pills inside a trash can in the women's public restroom in the jail lobby, reports said.
Because of prior information received about inmate Christopher Susaraba, officers had been conducting surveillance on him.
Detectives investigating the contraband backtracked communication between Susaraba, inmate Christopher Castle and visitor Morgan Hepler.
Hepler took the phone, charger and Vyvance, a Schedule II narcotic, to the jail, according to detectives.
Investigators spoke with Hepler on June 24 while she participated in a video visitation.
Hepler was then booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a preliminary charge of trafficking with an inmate.
Preliminary charges were brought against Castle, who has been in jail since March 12 and Susaraba who has been in jail since March 6.
Castle has been preliminarily charged with trafficking with an inmate, a Level 5 felony, and dealing in a Schedule II controlled substance, a Level 6 felony.
Hepler has been preliminarily charged with trafficking with an inmate, a Level 5 felony.
Susaraba has been preliminarily charged with trafficking with an inmate, a Level 5 felony.
