ELKHART, Ind. -- John Westercamp has announced his candidacy for Indiana attorney general.
Westercamp will be running against current Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill in 2020.
Westercamp is making a series of stops throughout the state and he stopped by Elkhart on Thursday.
He is a pro-life candidate and plans to protect Indiana’s view in that. He also promiseed to get rob-calls under control for residents of the state.
As an attorney, he has dealt with business law and but has minimal experience with criminal law.
Westercamp was asked about how he will go about tackling the criminal side of the position.
“That’s a very small part of the office. The attorney general is the chief legal officer of the state so it has to deal with a number of legal issues. While criminal law is an important part of the office, it’s a small part and there’s a lot of other areas that my experience will be beneficial in,” Westercamp said.
