K-9 Faust helps police find driver accused of leaving scene of crash

CASS COUNTY, Mich.—K-9 Faust helped the Cass County Sheriff’s Office locate a suspect accused of leaving the scene of a crash on September 15.

Around 7:39 p.m. on September 15, deputies and officers with Michigan State Police responded to a crash near the area of Pine Lake Street and Anderson Road.

While officers were on their way to the scene, witnesses reported to police that the driver of a vehicle involved in the crash ran from the scene into a large cornfield, according to the sheriff’s office.

During the investigation, police also learned that the vehicle involved in the crash may have been stolen from Berrien County, reports said.

K-9 Faust located the driver hiding in the middle of the cornfield, police said.

The 56-year-old male driver from Niles was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. He was then taken to jail on outstanding warrants.
