GOSHEN, Ind. -- Lacasa Inc. of Goshen has been working with low-income residents since 1970 and have rehabilitated more than 100 homes in Elkhart county.
Tuesday, yet another affordable housing option will open its doors to low-income families at 410 East Jefferson Street.
Four one-bedroom units will be included inside the home, which was completely gutted upon being purchased in 2016.
Throughout the more than six-year process, approximately 800 volunteer hours have been put into the home from the combined efforts of 164 volunteers.
Each rental includes a Queen-sized bedroom, kitchen area with appliances included and a fully equipped bathroom.
Families must earn 60% or less of the area median income to qualify for the housing, which is approximately $48,000 for a family of four.
The home on Jefferson Street is just one of 17 houses that will be rehabilitated by Lacasa in Michiana in 2023, with another house in Goshen set to be completed in July.
A ribbon cutting will be held for the event on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and is open for the public to attend.
Visitors are encouraged to view the freshly renovated facilities for themselves.
