LaGrange Co. Sheriff's Dept. to hold toy fundraiser
The season of giving is well underway and the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department is involved in giving back to the community.
On Saturday December 3rd at 9 a.m. the department will host a Stuff-a-Cruiser Fundraiser at the intersection of State Road 9 and U.S. 20 in LaGrange County.
The goal is to stuff patrol cars full of toys to collect as many as possible to give to children in the county over the holiday season.
"Most of these kids may or may not get anything for Christmas the way it is or it may be very limited on what they get for Christmas. So we're just trying to help that group of children," said Arron Knisley with the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department.
The toys collected will go to support children in the LaGrange County Child Services Department.
"One of the things we learned about this when we put it together is what really surprised me and even working here in public safety, I had no idea that we have 90-100 children at any given time receiving services from the Department of Child Services," added Knisley.
The department hopes to help at least 90-100 children. They need people to donate new, unwrapped toys appropriate for ages 0-18.
For those who cannot make the event Saturday but still want to donate, toys can be dropped off at the department from now until Saturday. The event will be from 9 a.m. to p.m.
