BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Lake Michigan College has announced it will cover one year of tuition for any Michigan resident with a high school diploma or equivalent.
“We want people to get back to school and put the pandemic behind us and one way is your education, so we hope this is really expensive for us,” said Trevor Kubatzke, President of Lake Michigan College.
The college will draw from state and federal funding like the Michigan Reconnect program, Pell grants and the CARES act, plus, their own pockets.
“Whatever they quality for we’re going to make those dollars available and if there’s anything leftover, we have scholarships with our local donors and after that the college will make up any difference,” said Kubatzke.
On-campus housing and books are not included and the offer is just for the upcoming fall and spring semesters, but as long as you apply by August 16, LMC guarantees they will help you get a degree.
“We’re going to get you set up, you’ll get the first year free, up to 30 credits, and then we will help you finish,” said Kubatzke.
