Lakeside Road reopened after train derailment in New Buffalo

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - Lakeside Road is back open to traffic between U.S. 12 and Kruger Road.

The Berrien County Road Department announced the reopening Tuesday afternoon, following the November 16 train derailment in the area.

The Berrien County Public Safety Communication Center said the derailment was due to a dispatch technology issue and the misidentification of the crossing where a stranded vehicle was.
