SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Crews say that temporary lane restrictions and closures are expected to begin Wednesday as work begins on the Ameritech Drive and Cleveland Road Intersection Improvement Project.

"This project includes the replacement of the concrete pavement at the Ameritech Drive – Cleveland Road intersection and signal modernization, including new traffic signals," said South Bend Director of Public Works Jitin Kain. "Construction will be broken up into six phases. Each phase could take up to 14 days to complete, weather permitting. Traffic restrictions and closures will vary with each phase."

There will still be access to all businesses in the area during the $1.2 million project being led by Milestone Contractors North, LLC.

"The anticipated completion date of the project is mid-July, weather permitting," Kain said.
