Large gathering in South Bend sends three to hospital from gunfire

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – South Bend Police responded to a call about a large gathering of 200 to 400 cars early Sunday morning around 3 a.m. Shots were fired while officers were on the scene at the intersection of S. Kenmore St. and W. Jefferson Blvd., causing all vehicles to try to leave.

Evidence found by police shows that at least 84 rounds were fired.

While officers secured the scene they found one gunshot victim who was taken to Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

During that same time two more victims of the gunfire walked into the hospital, also with non-life threatening injuries.

Two of the victims were treated and later released.
