Law enforcement identify pedestrian found lying in road before crash

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has identified the woman who was found lying in the road before getting hit by a vehicle near Main Street and Western Avenue Saturday night.

The woman was identified as 33-year-old Kinsaidreay Mae Shepard of South Bend.

According to witnesses, Shepard was unresponsive and lying in the road before she was hit.

Preliminary autopsy results showed Shepard did not suffer any life-threatening injuries because of the crash. More testing is needed, however, to determine her cause of death.
