Lisa Dean sentenced to 10 years for fatal crash
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Lisa Dean, 37, was sentenced to ten years in prison in connection with a crash that killed 63-year-old Alan Zellers in July 2016.
Dean was traveling northbound on Ironwood Drive around 8 p.m. on July 9th when she crossed the center lane and struck Zellers' motorcycle, which was traveling southbound.
Zellers died the following day.
Dean was sentenced to 10 years for operating a motor vehicle with a schedule I or II controlled substance in the blood.
Four years of the sentence was suspended. She will also serve 2 years of probation.
Her license was suspended for 12 years and she must pay over $15,000 in restitution.
Dean pleaded guilty to driving while suspended and operating a motor vehicle with a schedule I or II controlled substance in the blood on Jun 29, 2017 without an agreement on the charges.
