LMC introduces wine-making program

Students at Lake Michigan College will have the opportunity to be involved in the first wine-making program at a college in the Midwest.

Beginning in the fall semester of 2015, Lake Michigan College is launching the Great Lakes Wine Institute.

Students will learn the art, science, and business of wine.

Directors of the program are looking forward to the opportunity in a competitive field.

“We focus primarily on the production of quality wine, growing quality wine grapes, and teaching students how to process the to optimize their quality. We also focus on the business of wine-making. The wine-making business in general is very complex. It's a tough business. It's a competitive business,” says Michael Moyer, Director of the Great Lakes Wine Institute.

These students will work towards an associate's degree of applied science in enology, the study of wine-making, and in viticulture, the study of grapes.
