Local Boys and Girls Club hosting Youth Anti-Gun Violence Symposium

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The number of children killed by guns has grown considerably over the last five years, and at least one organization is taking steps to protect local kids.

"In response to the pressing need for community action and solutions for youth gun violence, the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County, in collaboration with Beacon Health, Goodwill’s Stand Against Violence Everyday (SAVE) program, and representatives from Notre Dame’s Pulte Institute, are hosting an upcoming Youth Anti-Gun Violence Symposium," organizers said.

The event will feature a discussion between local teens, law enforcement, health professionals, educators, gun violence survivors, and families affected by gun violence.

The goal of the discussion will be to address the challenges of gun violence in our community and explore solutions.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 4 at the Portage School of Leaders and The Club Teen Center at 306 W. Marion Street in South Bend.
