SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Local families are invited to attend the annual "Back 2 School Boogie Parade" at the Charles Black Community Center on Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Organizers say this free community celebration is meant to help local students and families prepare for a successful school year.

The event will include the following:

• Free school supplies (while supplies last)
• Free school uniforms for eligible students
• Free haircuts by local barbers and stylists
• Food trucks and concessions
• Live music and entertainment
• Family-friendly activities
• Community resource vendors
• Educational resources and youth program information
• Public safety demonstrations and community engagement opportunities
• Giveaways, prizes, and promotional items

Organizers say the parade will kick off at 10 a.m. from Washington High School before traveling down Washington Street, ending at the Charles Black Center.

Community members are encouraged to line up along the sidewalks of Washington Street to watch the parade.

The Charles Black Community Center is located at 3419 W. Washington St. in  South Bend.
