It’s the season of giving and with Christmas just around the corner, the Food Bank of Northern Indiana in South Bend is feeling some of that generosity. The non-profit agency just received a $25,000 donation from NIPSCO to help tackle the hunger issue for families during the holidays.
The food bank works to address the issue and bring awareness of the effects of hunger and create healthier communities across Michiana.
“The Food Bank of Northern Indiana is always there to help those in need in our communities across St. Joseph, La Porte and Elkhart counties, and this is a great opportunity for us to partner with them to provide a better holiday season,” said Angie Nelson Deuitch, NIPSCO Project Manager, Gas Operations.
Food Bank organizers shared their generosity for the donation noting that it helps them become more effective for families across the community.
“There are organizations that contribute to help us alleviate hunger and there are organizations like NIPSCO who truly help us make the community a healthy place. We are fortunate that they have leadership who get what we are trying to do. We would be less effective without NIPSCO,” said Milt Lee, CEO and executive director, Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
