Since the news broke across twitter that sports icon and former Fighting Irish coach Ara Parseghian died, social media exploded with tributes and sad goodbyes.

A variety of people who were close to him, and some who never even met him, shared their love and passion for the legacy he left behind.

It takes just over one thousand tweets to begin trending on twitter, and since that news broke, Parseghian’s name has been mentioned time and time again by big names, like former 1975 Notre Dame grad Condoleezza Rice, Notre Dame Men’s Basketball coach Mike Brey, and former Fighting Irish football players.

On Facebook, thousands more posts paid tribute to the late great football coach who took Notre Dame all the way when it came to the win.
