BENTON HARBOR, Mich. - Out of over 8,000 registered voters in Benton Harbor, only 863 participated in this year's election--that’s 279 less than in 2019.
ABC57 went out and spoke to residents who did and did not make their voices heard this election.
One voter, Troy Sane, made it a priority to hit the polls.
"Y’all will learn, when you see things in the community are not how you want them. Maybe if you vote then you make a change,” he said addressing voters.
ABC57 reached out to the County and City Clerk for their thoughts on the low turnout and did not hear back.
