St. Joseph County Jail

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A 31-year-old man is charged with Stalking and Criminal Confinement after allegedly threating to kill a woman in a domestic situation for several months.

The 31-year-old man, Dominic Violi, is charged with Stalking where defendant threatens sexual battery serious bodily injury or death as a Level 5 Felony, Criminal Confinement with bodily injury as a Level 5 Felony, two counts of Criminal Confinement as Level 6 Felonies, Strangulation as a Level 6 Felony, Intimidation as a Level 6 Felony, Domestic Battery Resulting in Moderate Bodily Injury as a Level 6 Felony, and two counts of Domestic Battery as Misdemeanors.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on April 17, officers went to a residence in the 100 block of Manor Drive for a welfare check after reports a woman there was being threatened.

When officers arrived, Violi came to the door before saying he would get the woman. An officer asked her to come out to speak with them.

The woman "looked terrified" to the officer and spoke softly, which the officer believed was so Violi wouldn't be able to hear her. She said that she wanted to go home, and the officer obliged. There, the officer noted that she had bruises and discoloration on her arm and stomach.

She discussed how Violi had hit her two months prior, strangled her, and threatened her to keep her from leaving on multiple occasions, even making veiled threats against her life.

Violi's initial hearing has been set for May 6.
