Man dies after falling into Cedar Lake

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- A 37-year-old man died after being pulled unresponsive from Cedar Lake Wednesday afternoon, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office.

Around 2:45 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 29000 block of Shaw Road after a resident on Cedar Lake saw a boat going in circles and a victim in the water yelling for help.

The resident called 911 and attempted to help the victim, but could not reach him.

Emergency responders and relatives of the victim arrived and the victim was pulled from the water unresponsive, reports said.

The victim, a 37-year-old male from Paw Paw, was pronounced deceased at Lakeview Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Deputies say it is believed the victim suffered a medical condition and fell out of the boat. He was alone in the boat at the time.
