Man found guilty of murdering 35-year-old Westville Correctional Facility inmate

Donell Davis LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- Documents from La Porte County Court reveal Donell Davis, who was charged with the murder of 35-year-old John Taylor at the Westville Correctional Facility in November 2023, was found guilty Thursday.
A mistrial was declared was initially declared in August 2025, but the case was re-tried at a trial this week.
Davis was found guilty of Murder, Aggravated Battery, Involuntary Manslaughter, Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury, Battery resulting in Moderate Bodily Injury, and Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury, a Misdemeanor.
