Man killed while clearing trees on Notre Dame campus
NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- A man was killed on the Notre Dame campus when a tree fell on him at a construction site.
A crew from an area excavating company was clearing the land for a parking lot at Twyckenham and Bulla when a tree fell on him.
The accident happened around 10:40 a.m., according to Notre Dame.
The victim was an employee of the excavating company, but his identitiy has not been released.
Work on the site has been suspended.
“We extend our deepest condolences to his family, and to all those involved in this morning’s terrible accident," Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., Notre Dame’s president, said, adding, “Reminded how precious and fragile life is, we pray for strength and peace for all who are suffering as a result.”
