Man rediscovers his love of music with new hands
BOSTON, Mass. --- A man in Massachusetts has rediscovered his love of music with his new pair of hands.
Richard Mangino made history back in October of 2011 as the first successful double hand transplant patient.
A decade earlier, Mangino lost his lower arms and legs to an infection.
He says that having a creative side has kept him strong through all of life's hard times.
"I'm sure that I do a lot more than a lot of people because I had music and I have some art and I have some things that I already do that help me through life psychologically. It's just a huge benefit, you know? Psychologically, I'm as good as everybody else with hands," said Mangino.
Mangino says he now looks forward to gaining more sensation in his fingers and one day picking up his guitar again.
