Marshall County investigates neglect of seven kids

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. - Two caregivers were arrested after police learned seven kids were not being cared for or being taken to school, according to reports.

Law enforcement arrested Heather Havens at a home in Koontz Lake, while Kayla Hiler was found in Plymouth.

Police began an investigation into the two women after getting complaints that children between the ages of four and 12 were not being supervised, cared for or attending school.

The kids have since been removed from the homes by the Department of Child Services.

Havens was charged with neglect of a dependent for depriving children of an education, while Hiler was charged with neglect of a dependent for endangering the children and depriving them of an education.
