Summer Concert Series brings tunes to Potawatomi Park
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- After rescheduling due to a weather delay in January, the Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation of St. Joseph County hosted its 36th annual celebration at the Century Center on Monday to honor the legacy of the civil rights leader.
Those in attendance emphasized the importance of honoring King Jr.’s legacy even if it cannot be done on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
“We're certainly here to create a more diverse community. It's important for people to have education and information and then to have people that they can talk to, and then as well, it's important for us to listen to our community at the same time,” one event participant said.
Attendees were able to partake in a community breakfast and activities throughout the event.
A COVID-19 vaccine clinic and testing station was also available at the event.
