Michiana counties experiencing high water on roads, some roads closed

Many counties throughout the area are experiencing high waters on roads and even road closures. With more rain on the way, drivers should be aware of the road conditions.

Throughout Elkhart County, many roads are experiencing high water levels. CR 46, west of CR 13, Old CR 17 and CR 30, parts of SR 119, parts of CR 28 and the 800 block of Green Road are areas with reported high-water levels, according to Elkhart County Dispatch. Many other areas are expected to be flooded.

In Marshall County, SR 10 near Filbert Road is currently a couple of feet underwater, according to dispatch. Gumwood Road is impassible due to water. Parts of Fir Road are also under water. Several other areas through the county are also experiencing flooding. US 6 between Bremen and Nappanee, has a section down to one lane due to flooding.

In St. Joseph County, Hickory Road, near Corby road, closed due to a pond overflowing onto the roadway. Dispatch also said that Western Avenue and Olive Street are experiencing flooding.

Berrien, Fulton, LaGrange, La Porte, Kosciusko and Starke Counties all do not have any reported road closures so far due to flooding, according to dispatch.
