Michiana kids walk the runway in the fight against MRSA

Young fashionistas in St. Joseph walked the runway Sunday afternoon at the 2nd Annual Fashion for a Cause benefiting the MRSA Survivors Network.

Event organizer Joy Cluff says she wanted to become an advocate after her family was effected by MRSA.

“My son acquired and almost lost his life on MRSA. It was horrible,” said Cluff.

After nine days of treatment in the hospital and months of physical therapy Cluff’s son is in good health again but the experience inspired her to make a change.

For Sunday’s event she teamed up with a local children’s clothing store and enlisted the help of Michiana’s most stylish.

“I’m happy that I did something for MRSA,” said 11-year-old Claire.

The event wasn’t only about raising money for the MRSA Survivors Network. It was an opportunity for local kids to see that putting the right foot forward by giving to a good cause, will always be in style.

“I liked it because it’s helping the people that are sick,” said 8-year-old Layla.
