ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- One local Michiana woman is trying to do her part to bring positivity to the community and unify people through art.
Lisa Levin spends her Sundays at Central Park in Mishawaka doing what she loves, painting. It started as a personal project to paint posters and signs for Black Lives Matter, justice, and equality and to bring awareness to the social injustice in America after the death of George Floyd. He was killed in Minnesota by a police officer back in May.
Her passion for art turned into a sweet gesture to help bring people together by offering anyone at the park a chance to express themselves through painting or get their face painted.
Levin said she gets to see the goodness in people just through painting together.
“We’re coming together, we’re painting together, we’re having fun together, art is beautiful, life can be beautiful, so we want it beautiful for everybody,” Levin said.
She will be in Howard Park in South Bend on Sunday, August 30, to continue offering face painting to the community.
