Michigan barge sinks, spills oil into Lake Huron

LAKE HURON, Mich. -- The U.S. Coast Guard said around 8,000 gallons of oil has spilled into Lake Huron as a barge slowly sank.

The St. Clair County Hazardous Materials Team headed to the site to try to contain the spill.

Michigan Pollution Control was hired to create a clean-up response plan.

No one was hurt and the six people who were on the barge are now on another tugboat.

It is unclear why the barge sank.
