Michigan Education Trust giving away $1.5 million in tuition for 35th anniversary

The Michigan Education Trust is celebrating its 35th anniversary by giving away a total of $1.5 million in tuition to kids across the state, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced.

The MET 35th Anniversary $1.5 Million Giveaway will give away one-hundred $15,000 prepaid tuition prizes through a randomized drawing.

Michigan residents ages 18 and older can enter the giveaway on behalf of beneficiaries ages birth to five for a chance to win $15,000 in tuition.

Residents can only enter once but multiple people can enter on behalf of the same beneficiary.

Michiganders must enter the giveaway by August 31, 2022. Winners will be announced in a series of drawings starting on September 12.

The prepaid tuition can be used to pay future fees at a community college, college, university, or trade school in agreement with MET terms and conditions.

Money for the giveaway comes from surplus funds from of the MET’s investment strategy over the last ten years. The MET Board of Directors unanimously voted to use part of that surplus money to raise awareness of MET and support residents’ higher education.

The giveaway is not funded by state tax dollars.
