Michigan grant gives students a safe route to school

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Two local Michigan schools are getting cash to get to class.

Sylvester Elementary School and Berrien Springs Middle School received grants from M-DOT for  "safe routes to school".

They will get sidewalks and crosswalks installed near campus and "Americans with Disabilities" compliant ramps.

The grant will also encourage students to walk and bike to school.

The project budget is just under $140,000.
