Michigan group to present petition to legalize marijuana

MICHIGAN – A group that wants to legalize marijuana in Michigan has started an effort to get a measure before voters in November 2012.

The group planned to hold an organizing event Thursday night in Ann Arbor. A draft version of their petition reads they seek to amend the state constitution to make marijuana legal for people 21 and older.

More than 300,000 signatures from registered voters in Michigan would be needed to put that question on a state-wide ballot.
