Michigan Primary: Polls open, candidates battle for statewide vote

MICHIGAN – Polls are set to open in Michigan for the GOP Presidential Primary.

Doors will open at 7 Tuesday morning until 8 in the evening.

Mitt Romney's campaign did manage to make a stop in Royal Oak, and it was anything but routine. Michigan native Kid Rock surprised the audience with a 1-song concert.

The rocker performed "Born Free." It's Romney's official campaign theme song.

Rick Santorum is blaming gas prices for the collapse of the housing market in 2008.  As for the recent rise in prices, he places the blame squarely on President Obama.

"We went into a recession in 2008 because of gasoline prices,” said Santorum. “The bubble burst in housing because people couldn't pay their mortgages because they were looking at $4 a gallon gasoline. Look at what happened, economic decline. Here we are again."

After the event, Santorum clarified his remarks. He described gas prices as a factor in the housing collapse, not necessarily the cause.
