MIDDLEBURY, IND. – Varns and Hoover Hardware’s owners received an unexpected surprise from a customer from years ago.
The business has been in business for more than 135 years and its fifth generation of owners received a letter from a customer stating that had stolen a piece of jewelry years back when they were younger.
Inside the envelope, the owners found the apology letter along with a $10 bill.
“There is nothing that feels better than admitting those mistakes and confessing up to them. Just for me personally, when I make mistakes, and I make mistakes every day when you make a mistake and you go to that person and you let them know what you did was wrong. It’s a complete burden taken out of your shoulders,” stated Nathan Miller, Owner of Varns and Hoover Hardware.
