MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit says one man is dead following a stabbing in Mishawaka.
He's been identified as 46-year-old Ray Adkins of Mishawaka.
It happened around 11:33 p.m. Wednesday night at a home on the 900 block of Iowa Street.
Metro Homicide says the Mishawaka Police Department received a report that an unwanted person had sustained stab wounds.
When officers arrived, they found the victim. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Several witnesses have been interviewed by investigators. No suspects are being sought at this time and no arrests have been made.
Metro Homicide says this appears to be an isolated incident with no additional threat to the public.
Investigators have not released the victim's name.
ABC 57 talked with two women who live on Iowa Street.
They say the scene is baffling and unsettling. They say the neighborhood is usually pretty quiet.
"I just never seen anything like this and I hope everything is okay," said Connie Earnhart. "I have kids, two younger ones besides my daughter here. I have two small kids. I usually let them play and all that kind of stuff outside so it's kind of unsettling a little bit."
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday December 21st, in Fort Wayne.
Investigators say this is an active investigation. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Metro Homicide at (574)235-5009 or Crime Stoppers at (574)288-STOP.
