Miss Indiana to participate in Habitat for Humanity Women's Build

GOSHEN, Ind. -- Hey, ladies! Here's your chance to put your building skills to the test.

On Friday, Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County kicked off its 2012 Women's Build with a luncheon.

Miss Indiana, and Goshen Native, Jackie Jerlecki was the Guest of Honor.

The annual build brings women together to learn construction skills and help put an end to poverty.

"The Women's Build is an exciting time for women to be able to get out and say, 'I can do this!' Construction is traditionally a man's field, so for women to actually get out and do construction -- it's empowering!" said Diane Trethewey, a long-time HFH volunteer.

The actual build starts in May.

If you'd like to help, there are some free tool training clinics this month in Goshen.
