Morris Inn set to get upgraded
NOTRE DAME, Ind.—The Morris Inn is about to get a $32 million upgrade.
The 60-year-old hotel is a landmark on the Notre Dame campus. The university told us plans call for nearly 50 additional rooms, and a new ballroom.
South Bend philanthropist Ernestine Raclin donated $15 million to the project. Her dad 1906 Notre Dame alum paid for the hotel's initial construction to thank the university for helping him.
"They gave him a $100 loan and he was always very appreciative of that,” said Dennis Brown. “Later in the 1950's, he made a $1 million gift which was a lot of money back then to build a hotel on campus."
Renovations are expected to start next summer. The hotel should be done by fall of 2013.
