Multiple arrests at La Porte County residence after years of complaints

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. - The La Porte County Sheriff's Office reports that deputies have been responding to an alarming number of calls about a residence in the 2800 block of CR 550 West in Scipio Township since 2021.

Authorities say calls ranged from alleged sexual battery, narcotic overdoses, thefts, noise and fire complaints to the most recent call on April 10, when deputies responded to a fight involving several subjects.

Documents state following the fighting incident, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) further investigated the residence and who owned the property.

Detectives learned the homeowner passed away in 2021, and a subject identified as 42-year-old Jason P. Stryjewski has been staying at the address since then.

Authorities contacted relatives of the deceased homeowner who stated that Stryjewski, along with any other occupants, were no longer welcome at the residence.

On April 11, detectives visited the property and located Stryjewski with multiple other subjects. The detectives instructed the group to vacate the property.

Officials say Stryjewski responded in a "vulgar" manner and detectives suspected the group would ignore their directive.

An arrest warrant for Stryjewski was secured for Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a level six felony, and Criminal Trespass, an A-Misdemeanor, later that same day.

On April 12, CID Detectives and members of the Warrants Division and the Administration, arrived at the residence and took a total of nine subjects into custody, including Stryjewski.

Three subjects were found inside the residence while the other six subjects were found inside passenger vehicles and RVs on the property.

All nine subjects were removed and taken to the La Porte County Jail.

The following are the arrestees and charges:

· 42-year-old Jason P. Stryjewski – Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a level six felony, and Criminal Trespass, an A-Misdemeanor

· 23-year-old Austin E. Halderman – Visiting a Common Nuisance, B-Misdemeanor

· 33-year-old Jonathon R. McCullough - Visiting a Common Nuisance, B-Misdemeanor

· 39-year-old David J. Mrozinski Jr. - Visiting a Common Nuisance, B-Misdemeanor

· 32-year-old Christopher J. Michaels - Visiting a Common Nuisance, B-Misdemeanor

· 41-year-old Gary D. Morton II - Visiting a Common Nuisance, B-Misdemeanor

· 35-year-old Amber J. Stacy - Visiting a Common Nuisance, B-Misdemeanor

· 27-year-old Brandi L. Dorsey - Visiting a Common Nuisance, B-Misdemeanor

· 22-year-old Dakota Charlson - Visiting a Common Nuisance, B-Misdemeanor

Stryjewski remains at the La Porte County Jail, held on a $755 cash bond.

Dorsey, McCullough, and Halderman also remain at the La Porte County Jail being held on a $305 cash bond.

Stacy, Morton, Michaels, and Mrozinski all have posted bond and been released from the La Porte County Jail.

Charlson was issued an information and summons and given a Superior III Court date for the offense and released.

The nine arrestees were instructed not to return to the property, or they will be charged with an additional offense of Criminal Trespass.
