Multiple narcotics and weapons seized by Berrien County SWET

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – Southwest Enforcement Team – WEST has made several arrests since September 26th after executing multiple search warrants.

September 26th:

SWET, Berrien County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Niles Police investigated sales and distribution of cocaine on the 1800 block of Ferry Street.

Officials located over an ounce of cocaine, US Currency, and other items used in distributing narcotics.

Elbert Briggs, 41, was arrested and booked into the county jail on the following charges:

  • Delivery cocaine (two counts)
  • Possession with Content to Deliver Cocaine
  • Maintaining a Drug House

October 2nd:

SWET and Berrien County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant for illegal narcotics at the 1800 block of East

Britain Avenue in Benton Harbor.

During the search, investigators found approximately 13 grams of heroin, two guns, and other drug distributing items.

Allan Coates, 50, was inside the home during the warrant. He was arrested and taken to jail for the following:

  • Delivery of Heroin (two counts)
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
  • Felony Firearms

October 3rd:

SWET, Berrien County Patrol, Benton Harbor Public Safety, and Berrien County TRU executed a warrant for illegal firearms on

the 900 block of McAllister Street in Benton Harbor.

Police located Brian Miller, 44, during the investigation. They found two pistols and two long guns in the home.

  • Miller was arrested and booked in jail for:
  • Felony Firearms (four counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (four counts)

October 4th:

Berrien County Patrol and SWET investigated a warrant for illegal narcotics in Benton Township.

Police located the suspect in the home on the 1300 block of Broadway. They also found about a half an ounce of cocaine, 11.5

pounds of marijuana, a pistol, and other drug trafficking items.

The suspect, Corey Douglas, 43, was lodged in county jail on the following charges:

  • Probation Violation
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver cocaine
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver marijuana
  • Maintaining a Drug House
  • Felony Firearms
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

October 5th:

SWET, Berrien County TRU, Berrien County Road Patrol, and Benton Harbor Public Safety investigated a home on the 200 block of

Garfield Avenue in Benton Harbor for illegal narcotics.

The investigation was for the sale and distribution of heroin and it lasted 10 months.

Two suspects were located in the home, as well as one ounce of heroin, some marijuana, and a semi-auto hand gun, according to

SWET.

Dexter Brown, 32, and Kevin McGee, 23, were both arrested and taken to Berrien County jail.

Brown was booked for:

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin
  • Maintaining a Drug House
  • Felony Firearms
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
  • McGee was booked for:
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver marijuana

SWET and other crews accumulated 27 Felony Counts from these busts.
